Message from District Rotaract Representative Alan Yip

Dear Fellow Rotarians and Rotaractors,

It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to the first joint District Conference between
Rotarians and Rotaractors!

This year has been difficult for everyone amid the pandemic, but I feel fortunate that
Rotarians and Rotaractors can serve to make a difference for the communities. I have
seen many selfless and dedicated individuals taking actions in response to the needs
of the community. At difficult times like this, it is important for Rotarians and Rotaractors
to get together and join hands to offer help to those in need. This reminds me well of
Rotary’s motto, ‘Service Above Self’, and Rotaract’s motto, ‘Fellowship Through Service’.

It is a year filled with challenges, but also a year full of opportunities to change and
innovate. Travel restrictions and social distancing may have limited our mobility, but
never stop us from connecting with others and the rest of the world. Through technology and innovation, we are
empowered to learn new ways of doing service and organising events, including virtual meetings, hybrid events, and
many formats which we may not have imagined before the pandemic.

The District Conference is a great occasion for us to review what we have achieved together in the past year and
to look ahead for the future. Let’s treasure the time spent together and cherish the opportunity to connect with each
other.

Together, we serve, we learn, and we lead.

Furthermore, I am very excited to see the idea of a joint District Conference between Rotary and Rotaract coming
into reality. This is a true example of Rotary-Rotaract collaboration, which will help facilitate the interactions and
exchanges of ideas between Rotarians and Rotaractors. This would not be possible without the everlasting support
from District Governor Eric Chak, Chairlady Cassy Cheng and many Rotary leaders, as well as the tremendous efforts
made by the organising committee. Thank you very much!

I would like to take this opportunity to also thank Rotaract Conference Chair Alvin Leung and the organising committee
for everything they have done for the conference.

I wish District Conference a great success and may all your WISHES come true!
