Professor Francis K. L. Chan, SBS, JP, is Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Choh-Ming
Li Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics, Director of Centre for Gut Microbiota
Research, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a member of the Board of
the Hong Kong Hospital Authority.

A world-renowned clinician-scientist in nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
(NSAIDs) and aspirin-related gastrointestinal diseases, he has published over 700
full scientific articles in high impact international journals such as New England
Journal of Medicine and Lancet with an h-index of 113. His research into the
prevention of NSAIDs and aspirin-related gastrointestinal bleeding has led to major
revisions to clinical practice guidelines in the U.S., Europe and the Asia Pacific
region. He has received many national and international honours and awards such
as The David Y. Graham Lecturer and The Andy Martynoga Memorial Lecturer. In
2018, he was elected Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Thailand, and awarded an Honorary
Doctorate Degree by the Osaka City University, an honour that only 12 doctorates were awarded in its 138-year
history. He is the first Chinese and second in Asia to be conferred the International Leadership Award by the
American College of Gastroenterology in 2018. In 2019 ExpertScape named him top 0.06% world expert in Aspirin.

He received the honour of JP in 2010 for his contribution to detecting silent SARS infection among Hong Kong
citizens. In 2019, he was conferred the Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS) for contributions to advisory and governing
boards of public bodies in the medical and health sector.

炎藥及阿斯匹靈臨床指導方針的華人胃腸病學家，屢獲國際榮譽。2018年大板城市大學榮譽博士，該大學138年歷
史只頒授12個榮譽博士，泰國皇家醫學院推選榮譽院士，首位華人獲美國胃腸疾病學會頒授2018年度國際領袖成
就獎，2019年美國醫學資訊機構「ExpertScape」選為「研究阿斯匹靈的全球頂尖學者」。在國際高影響因數期刊
如新英倫醫學期刊及柳葉刀，發表超過700篇論文，H指數113。

2003年沙士爆發，為全港超過12,000名居民進行隱性沙士感染檢測，2010年獲頒授太平紳士榮譽。2019獲頒授
銀紫荊星章，以表揚多年在公共醫療及衛生界咨詢及管治組織的貢獻。
